What are wikis and what can they do?

• Wikis enable anyone and everyone to create content online using easily understandable tools.
• Wikis are becoming known as the tool of choice for large, multiple-participant projects.
• Wikis are the simplest online database that could possibly work.

What does "wiki" mean?

It comes from the Hawaiin term "wiki-wiki" which means "hurry quick" in Hawaiian. It also refers to a fish native to the islands.
